Welcome to A RABBIT’S FOOT

For luck you carried… a rabbit’s foot in your right pocket… The claws scratched in the lining of your pocket and you knew your luck was still there.”

Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast

Issue #1

From the mind of producer, writer, and filmmaker Charles Finch, we are a new bookazine and digital platform with an informed focus on film, art, and culture.

Our first issue, focusing on French cinema, was released in May 2022.

We created A RABBIT’S FOOT for those of you who require a more cerebral approach in your interest in cinema and the arts – whether you are a film student, an artist in need of inspiration, or an industry expert. Thoughtful essays and stories from leading directors and actors are joined by the most wonderful photographers. In Issue 1, the words of Whit Stillman and Wes Anderson are accompanied by the lens of Brigitte Lacombe and Jonathan Becker.

With our seasonal print publication and our constantly updated online offering, we will remain an insightful companion to all curious movie-goers. Subscribe to our website for information about key events and news, so that A RABBIT’S FOOT will once again become a lucky, reliable charm for your pockets.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to A Rabbit’s Foot

For many years, I have dreamed of publishing a magazine (or let’s call it a bookazine) dedicated to film, art, and culture.

In the first issue, we have chosen to focus on French cinema, as it is, after all, the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, and the Lumières brothers did invent the form…

Inside these pages, you will find in-depth interviews, essays and photographs from brilliant artists, including Isabelle Huppert, Juliette Binoche and Audrey Diwan – whose most recent film L’événement (Happening) is on everyone’s lips. Wes Anderson and Whit Stillman, both Francophiles and Parisians at heart, share their insights into French movies and culture. And Brigitte Lacombe’s Cannes 1975 photo journal is published inside.

In the issue, you will also discover evocative stories on classic films and the next generation of French artists as well as the legends. For the first time in many years, the elusive Isabelle Adjani opens up to the author Natasha A. Fraser about her personal life and career.

If you love film – if you are looking for a more gentle approach to discovering culture in all its forms – join us on this journey, which, at the very least, will bring a smile to your face.

We ask you to please subscribe to our mailing list, and we will send you a link to the complete first issue. Every two weeks, you will then receive A Rabbit’s Foot newsletter into your inbox, as well as access to our high-quality articles, events, and news on future issues.

Our website will update on the first Tuesday of every month with films, reviews, and stories that might bring a new perspective to your views of cinema – or of life!
